Become a Technical Expert: Apprentice Towing Tank Technician at University of Southampton
Are you ready to dive into the world of engineering and automation? The University of Southampton is offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring technicians to join their team as an Apprentice Towing Tank Technician. This role provides hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art facility and allows you to pursue a Level 4 Automation and Controls Engineering apprenticeship.
With the support of the university's nominated training provider, you will work towards earning a Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering or Automation and Control Engineering. Gain knowledge and understanding to be able to provide effective and efficient technical support in the development, maintenance and efficient operation of the facility, working alongside the technical team, for the Educational, Research and Enterprise portfolio. Be engaged in the development and commissioning of equipment and systems and preparing models for testing.
Qualifications
Qualification in engineering or engineering related subjects to Level 3 of the NQF comparison chart,
or NVQ Level 3,
or 1A Level,
or 2 AS levels
or T level in design and development for engineering and manufacturing
And Minimum 5 GCSE including Maths, English and Science at Grades 5-9
Able to sit aptitude tests
Salary
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, pay will be the lowest spine point of Level 3, which is Spine Point 22, £30,805 full-time equivalent.
In year one of the apprenticeship, pay will be 60 per cent of this lowest spine point value, before increasing to 70 per cent in year two and to 80 per cent in year three.
* NB - Notwithstanding the provisions set out above, all apprentices will receive a salary which equates to at least the applicable National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for their age, where this exceeds those contractual provisions.
