This is an exciting opportunity to join the School’s technical team and support teaching laboratories and tissue culture facilities in our research labs.
The primary purpose of this position is to:
• Develop and test new practical classes working with relevant academic staff.
• Work with the technical team to assist in the organisation of the daily running of teaching laboratories, ensuring tidiness/cleanliness and the provision of general laboratory services so that a complete, streamlined and professional preparation and maintenance of all instruments, equipment and other set- up required for teaching practical classes held in the teaching laboratories at the UCL School of Pharmacy can be provided as required by the Technical Manager - Teaching Laboratories.
• Test, adjust, and repair laboratory equipment and apparatus; arrange repairs and quotations by communicating with external contractors and engineers when required and requested by the Technical Manager—Teaching Laboratories and/or Dept. Laboratory Manager (Pharmaceutics).
• Ensure that standard and specialised laboratory equipment is used appropriately and safely and that any faults are reported as per relevant protocols directly to the Technical Manager or the Safety Officer.
• Provide technical support for the Tissue Culture facilities spread across the building throughout the year. This includes aiding in the general maintenance of apparatus/laboratory equipment; maintaining and managing the online booking system, ensuring new users are trained to use the equipment, correctly moving and fitting compressed gas cylinders from the store and around the building; awareness of the relevant Health and Safety procedures and observing the local rules.
