NEW PATHWAY LAUNCH: NTDC National Education Technical Professional (ETP) Pathway
17 February 2022
Laurence Dawkins-Hall, a Specialist Advisor for the NTDC recently ran a Professional Registration workshop (provided by the Science Council and supported by NTDC and IST) for Glasgow University. It was a fascinating two-hour session filled with interactive exercises and discussions. Take a look at what Laurence had to say below along with a video of the session!
This short piece is designed to promote and clarify a two-hour long, interactive Professional Registration workshop I provided on behalf of the NTDC, in my capacity as Special Advisor for Registration and STEM.
The workshop is meant to act as a pro forma for other workshops, provided to Partner Affiliates of the NTDC and in all cases will be followed up by personal mentoring, as elaborated in this blog article. The Workshop and associated video cover all aspects of Professional Registration, from benefits to defining the three registers (viz. RSciTech, RSci and CSci) to the mechanics of the Science Council online application portal or CAP to completion of the mainstay of the CAP application, namely the competency form. Furthermore, this video is a pro forma for analogous workshops I will also provide for the IST, in my capacity as Assistant Registrar and principal Registration Mentor.
The more interactive aspects of this registration video are rooted in a pro forma being trialled by the Science Council, which includes anonymised polls and breakout rooms and, in addition, registration learning aides produced by the Science Council. It is hoped, going forward, that experimenting with delivery format in this way will lead to better audience participation in new and improved pro formas for both the IST and NTDC.
