NEW PATHWAY LAUNCH: NTDC National Education Technical Professional (ETP) Pathway

In order to celebrate the uniqueness of every technical role in our network, we run an annual photo competition open to all technical staff at Partner Affiliate institutions. This year, the first prize of £400 was sponsored by OHaus and the runner up prize of £300 was sponsored by Scientific Laboratory Supplies.
We are thrilled to announce this year's winners; first prize winner, Michael Bayliss (University of Liverpool) and runner up winner, David Addey (Liverpool John Moores University). See their photographs and supporting text beneath, alongside the fantastic photographs from other entrants. The photo competition is a great reminder of the diversity in technical careers, and it is great to hear from technical staff about why they love their technical role.

About the photograph: "It shows technical and academic staff, working together on a media publications for a research project, “the oldest Wooden Structure discovered”. Using my key skills in digital marketing and content creation. I drove forward a professional, high standard video, to help promote the research, which has now hit over 2 Million views on Youtube."
About winning the photo competition: “Thank you so much! I am truly shocked and honoured to win this competition. I was just wanting to show in my image the creativity of different technicians and promoting the combination of technical and academic staff working together.”

About the photograph: "The photo shows to me how far I have come since I started the role, although I didn't design the hand, I created the print file, loaded the materials, fiddled with the settings so it came out as good as it could possibly look. The image in the background is being produced by a Raspberry Pi which I have been learning about since I started the job. It shows me I can be happy about what I've achieved in a relatively short space of time after doing not a lot for a very long time."
About winning the photo competition: "I’m 60 now and a latecomer to techy things, I really enjoy my job and it’s very fulfilling. I look forward to seeing the other entries. I’m chuffed to bits."
