NEW PATHWAY LAUNCH: NTDC National Education Technical Professional (ETP) Pathway
14 March 2022
With Mel Leich stepping up as the new Director of the NTDC, we’d like to welcome Caleb Wright as our new Deputy Director. Caleb is the Apprenticeship Scheme Manager at the University of Birmingham and is responsible for the development and delivery of the University’s Apprenticeship Strategy for its own workforce. This wealth of experience will be invaluable to NTDC’s plans to support the next generation of technicians.
“I am delighted to take on the role of Deputy Director for the NTDC. I have been working alongside NTDC since 2017 supporting the development of the new Education Technician apprenticeship standard. This has given me a good insight into how the NTDC can help support the development of technicians across a wide range of institutions and technical specialisms.
“I am particularly looking forward to using my knowledge on apprenticeships, including the funding rules and standards, to support Universities to make the most of their apprenticeship levy. This will help enable both the training of new entrant technicians and upskilling of existing technical staff. I am very much looking forward to working with colleagues at the NTDC to continue to support the technical community.”
Mel Leich, Director of the NTDC said, “As many of you will already know Caleb Wright has been working with the NTDC for some time and has progressed the now adopted apprentice framework for Technicians in HE. I am delighted to announce that Caleb will continue working in this field with the NTDC in a new capacity of Deputy Director. Caleb brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will allow the NTDC to grow its activity in this hugely important area.”
Sara Bacon, Centre Manager at the NTDC said, “It is fantastic that Caleb joins us as Deputy Director. Caleb has always supported the NTDC and technical community particularly within the area of Apprenticeships as a Specialist Adviser and brings a wealth of knowledge and support to the deputy director role. We look forward to working with Caleb and welcome him to the team.”
From all of us at the NTDC, we’d like to welcome Caleb and can’t wait to work with him further. Caleb is preparing to host his second workshop that delves into practical advice on running apprenticeships. It’s hosted on 13 April 11am to 12pm on Zoom and you can book a free place.
