This round of the Technician Development Fund (TDF) provides financial support for projects led and delivered by technical staff.

About the Fund
About the Fund
The Project Fund offers up to £300 per application to support technician-led initiatives and activities.
Projects can include a wide range of activities, including (but not limited to):
Outreach projects and engagement activities
Technical careers fairs
Events for local young people or schools
Projects directly linked to your technical work
Existing or ongoing projects that would benefit from additional support
We encourage applications for projects that demonstrate creativity, collaboration, community engagement, or professional impact.

Funding can be used to support costs directly related to delivering your project. This may include materials, resources, small equipment, event support, or other reasonable project-related expenses.
Applications should clearly explain how the funding will help deliver or enhance the project.

When should the project be delivered?
Projects should normally be delivered within the 2026 calendar year, unless otherwise agreed with the NTDC team.
Can groups apply?
Yes. Groups and pairs are welcome to apply. However, please submit only one application per project.
Can ongoing projects apply?
Yes. Applications for ongoing projects are accepted. Please note that retrospective costs (costs already incurred before approval) are not eligible.
What costs are not eligible?
Staff salaries or time
Hospitality or alcohol
Personal purchases unrelated to the project
Costs not directly linked to project delivery
Retrospective costs incurred before approval
Will I receive the full £300?
You may apply for any amount up to £300. Each application will be assessed individually, and you may be asked to provide additional evidence to support your requested budget. Please be as specific as possible when listing costs.
How are payments made?
Payment methods are determined at the discretion of the NTDC team and may vary depending on the project. Funding may be provided via reimbursement (with receipts), direct payment by NTDC, or allocated to a project code through purchase order or invoice.
