This round of the Technician Development Fund (TDF) will support Professional Membership fees for technical staff at all career stages who work within partner affiliate organisations.
Funding is available to cover the cost of joining or renewing membership with an eligible professional body.
This round will fund:
1 year professional membership fees for technical staff at any career level, with a licensed professional body
Both:
New memberships
Continuing memberships
If you have previously been, or are currently, a member of a professional body, you are still eligible to apply.
If you are unsure whether your chosen awarding body is licensed or eligible, please contact us before applying and we will be happy to advise.
You must:
Be a member of technical staff at a Partner Affiliate organisation
Be applying for membership with a licensed professional body
Be seeking support for professional development through professional membership
Technical staff at all levels and stages of their career are encouraged to apply.
We can support membership fees in the following ways:
We can pay the membership fee directly on your behalf, or
We can reimburse you if you have already paid and can provide a receipt
Payment arrangements will be decided by the NTDC team.
We can also fund memberships retrospectively:
Retrospective payments can be made for memberships starting from 23rd November 2025 (up to 3 months prior), provided a receipt is supplied.
We will fund memberships beginning up to 23rd May 2026.
Application window: 23rd February (10:00) - 27th February (23:59)
Successful eligible applicants will be selected at random.
All applicants will be notified of the outcome by 6th March 2026.
Other licensed professional bodies not listed below may also be eligible. If you are unsure whether your chosen awarding body qualifies, please contact us for guidance before applying - enquiries@ntdc.ac.uk.
For licensed STEM bodies under the Science Council, a list of eligible organisations can be found here.
For licensed Engineering bodies under the Engineering Council, a list of eligible organisations can be found here.
For professional registration in Creative Technologies or Artificial Intelligence, the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) is currently the only licensed body offering registration in these specialisms, in addition to the STEM registers managed by the Science Council.

Please be aware that your application for TDF funding is separate from your application for professional membership, which must be completed independently with the licensed body.
